3D Scanning
Lucky’s foot was 3D scanned by Deckers’ design team to obtain the geometry for the unique shape of his foot. This allowed for a closer, more custom fit than the traditional casting technique.

3D Modeling
Using the scan data of his foot, the team designed a model of Lucky’s special boot. Autodesk software allowed the boot to be created to better suit the penguin habitat.

3D Printing
3D printed first in PolyJET, a prototype technology, the boot was revised and printed in stronger, production grade RPU material using Carbon’s DLS (Digital Light Synthesis) technology by Dinsmore Inc.
